Cisco Refugio.png

What: Class 2A Division II Title

: Cisco (14-0) vs. Refugio (14-0)

When: 12 p.m. Friday

Where: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington

Cisco are masters of the ground having three backs who ran for 130+ yards in the semifinal.  Refugio also runs by committee and they have a sophomore quarterback who has thrown for 49 TDs and only 6 picks.

Refugio hasn't been this good since one Willie Mack Garza was running rough shod over South Texas. They set the State scoring record with 855 points. Cisco gets it's third shot at a State Title in the New Willinium having lost in '02, '06, '08.

Argyle Wimberely.png

What: Class 3A Division II Title

: Argyle (14-1) vs. Wimberley (14-0)

When: 4 p.m. Friday

Where: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington

Argyle has a sophomore kicker named Cole Hedlund who has set a national record with 23 field goals this year. They also have a sophomore receiver, Ian Sadler who has 53 catches and 12 TD's. Wimberley is balanced on offense and averages 38 points a game. The Texans tackle Taylor Robertson is 6-7 300 pounds and has already won two 6 Man State Titles with the home school San Marcos Area Christian Competitors.

Book it, Westlake ruled 5A during the 90's, Lake Travis rules now, and Wimberely will rule for years to come. The Texans are another West Austin juggernaut in the making. Argyle plays in their second state title game, not bad for a school that has existed since 2001.

Midway Lake Travis.png

What: Class 4A Division I Title

: Waco Midway (13-2) vs. Lake Travis (14-0)

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington

Midway starts 5 seniors on the offensive line and knocked off Denton Ryan and Tyler John Tyler en route to the Title game. Lake Travis has won 4 titles with 3 different coaches. No Texas school has ever won 5 in a row. Baker Mayfield of Lake Travis has thrown for 44 TDs and with only 5 picks and over 3,500 yards.

Lake Travis has won 4 State Titles and is 76-3 in the last 5 years. If you're a senior at Lake Travis you've never known a football season that didn't end in a State Championship. But the job market sucks so don't get ahead of yourself. Midway has a SMU commit Shakiel Randolph at linebacker he's also a 4.0 student. He's smarter and more athletic than you are. Deal with it.
