Rice used a balanced attack to take down Kansas at Rice Stadium Saturday night. Kansas hasn’t won a road game since, well, basically ever at this point. The Jayhawk’s champaign dreams were dashed as Rice scored 10 in the fourth to pull away for the Owl’s second straight win against KU.
Taylor McHargue gave way to Driphus Jackson in the fourth and the sophomore from Cedar Hill gave the Owls the kick in the pants they needed to finish of the Jayhawks. Charles Ross was the bell cow for Rice with 157 yards and a TD.
Kansas starter Jake Heaps was threw a pick six on Kansas’ first drive and Rice’s defense never looked threatened other than when Kansas was able to get the ball into the hands of Tony Pierson. Pierson had 4 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Rice kicker Chris Boswell made himself some NFL money with a 56 yarder in the second half.
The Owls take on UH for the Bayou bucket next weekend.
