Bobcats Win at Southern Miss

Texas State 22

Southern Miss 15

PASS: Arndt (TXST): 13-19, 111 Bridgford (USM): 28-53, 377, TD

RUSH: Nutall (TXST): 10-37 Hardy (USM): 8-27

REC: Erickson (TXST): 3-37 Holmes (USM): 12-96

Tyler Arndt didn't screw up once! 13-19 111 yards and a rushing TD. Not too bad Tyler, we expected much worse. Hattiesburg used to be a fortress for the Golden Eagles, then they hired the wrong coach, went 0-12 in 2012, hired another coach, and are now in the throws of a 13 game losing streak.

Texas State had a 14-3 lead at the end of the first half despite having only 100 yards of offense. The first half was ugly, only outdone by USM's new uniforms.

Southern Miss came back to take a one point lead and all looked lost for the Bobcats, until they went on a final drive to take the lead including a 4th and 19 conversion to the Round-Up's favorite wide receiver Andy Erickson.

The Bobcats have been looking for a win like this on the road and finally got it. Better, Tyler Arndt may have turned a corner. Add to that change of pace QB Jordan Moore and something may be brewing in San Marcos. Or not.

Coach Fran gets a big win to start off the 2013 campaign and should be 2-0 after taking on Prairie View A&M at home next week.
