Texas stopped the bleeding on Saturday night in Austin with a much needed win over K-State. How big and how well needed will be determined much later this season, but for one night, Mack escaped and the Horns showed the promise many felt they had to start 2013.

It wasn't all good news, David Ash went down with injury again, though again Case McCoy managed the game well enough to hold on. The worse news is that Jordan Hicks is once again out for the remainder of the season, this time with an achilles injury.

Texas gets a week to heal wounds and covertly interview more head coaches before a winnable trip to Ames.
