HBU benefactor Bob McNair has battled cancer for the last year. The Texans owner gave $3 million to the University for the school's new stadium.

The American Press of Lake Charles has previewed the Huskies. They predict a 2-9 record and a 0-8 SLC finish. For his part head coach Vic Shealy has set his sights a bit higher; “I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t find a way to win a football game in the Southland Conference”

Big News for the Lumberjacks: Devonte Fields is transferring to SFA.

Fields was the 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year who missed most of 2013 due to injury and suspension. He'll be available to play immediately for the Lumberjacks.

Zach Conque, a UTSA transfer, is even bigger than the Bud realized at 6-6 230. He could be a game changer for the Lumberjacks entering 2014.

A very scruffy Jeremy Moses catches us up on the Lumberjacks fall progress.

Ray Woodard is in the last year of his contract, the Enterprise says he's focusing on 9 wins. The Bud thinks 7 or 8 could get him an extension.

The grandson of NFL great Mark Mosely is now kicking for Lamar.

The Lake Charles American Press picks ACU to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the SLC.

“We’ve played good football at ACU for a long time now, and we’re used to winning,” said Wildcats coach Ken Collums. “We know these next couple of seasons are going to be tough as we transition to a new level, but we’re striving to be as good or better at this level as we were at the previous level.”

The Lake Charles American Press Continues its preview of the Southland with a look at UIW. They pick the Cards to go 1-10 overall and 1-7 in conference. Bummer.


A little late, but Sam has completed 2 weeks of fall camp already in anticipation of their matchup with Eastern Washington.

The Bearkats weren't crisp in their first scrimmage of the season.
