Texas defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway has entered the NFL draft in a move that surprises some, but leaves the Horns thinner up front in 2016.
Ridgeway was an up and down performer in 2015, injuries and inconsistency held him back. Still, when healthy, Ridgeway was disruptive, tying for fifth on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss. Ridgeway also recorded 35 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two quarterback hurries.
Ridgeway looks to be a mid-round selection at nose tackle in the draft.
"I just discussed it with my parents and my family, seeing what was best for me, and right now, I think it's best to come out this year," Ridgeway said in a statement. "My teammates and coaches mean a lot to me. Everything that's happened at UT has helped me, that includes my teammates and coaches, and everything they've done has helped me to get to this point."
