Larry Coker is Out at UTSA

After starting the UTSA football program from scratch in 2009 Larry Coker announced Tuesday that he is stepping down as the program's head coach. The Roadrunners finished 3-9 last season and Coker went 26-32 overall in five seasons as head coach. Coker leaves with 86-47 (.647) career record at Miami and UTSA, three conference championships and the 2001 National Championship at Miami (Fla.).

The timing of Coker’s departure was interesting, coming less than a month from national signing day and a month after most collegiate vacancies were filled.

Coker served as an ideal candidate to guide the Roadrunners into collegiate football. We’ll always remember the opening day win with 56,000 fans packing the AlamoDome and his 8-4 2012 mark in just year two, and the first in FBS. Coker would lead his 2013 team to a 7-5 season in the programs first year in Conference USA.
