What We Saw: Idaho 47 Texas State 14

The disaster that is Texas State football continues. This time Idaho waltzed into San Marvelous and beat the Bobcats like a rented mule. It was ugly.

Here's what we saw:

  1. Tyler Jones should get hazard pay. Dear God Tyler Jones was beaten to a pulp by Idaho. I want to repeat that, IDAHO. The Vandals had eight sacks, two hurries and countless knockdowns of Jones and the rest of Texas State's quarterbacks. When Jones was upright, he was effective. He just wasn't  upright much.
  2. Texas State may be the worst rushing team in a decade. Once again the Bobcats' rushing attack was non-existent. For the game Texas State averaged -0.6 yards a carry. Negatory. Less than zero. I want to repeat, it's IDAHO. The Vandals are dropping down to the FCS in 2018.
  3. How bad can it get? After the Ohio win in week one, the Bobcats looked like a up and comer. Nine weeks later they couldn't play dead in a Spaghetti Western. They've been within single digits of exactly one of their five conference foes so far. This team is depleted by attrition and injury, not talented, and based on the way they play and the way their coach talks about them to the press, they hate their coach. We don't know how bad it can get because the 'Cats are pioneering new lows each week.

Texas State travels to New Mexico State.
