What We Saw: Western Kentucky 45 North Texas 7

The clock is striking midnight on the Mean Green. Actually the clock is probably running up the score on North Texas at this point. The Mean Green were CUSA's darlings a month ago after beating Army. Three straight conference losses later their looking like a over the hill Denny's waitress on the night shift.

Here's what we saw:

  1. Hello Alec Morris. Mason Fine went out early with a shoulder injury so Seth Littrell turned around and pointed at Alec Morris to get in and finish up. Might as well hand him a cigaret and a blind fold. It's become clear that Fine's over his head in recent weeks so the move to Morris, though out of necessity may not be terrible.
  2. Western Kentucky is explosive ya'll. The Hilltoppers started the game with scoring plays of 64, 75, and 33 yards. They accumulated 543 yards of total offense and called off the dogs in the second half. We've seen them do this before, check out Rice in the season opener. UNT's defense has been decent, not today.
  3. The USM game is huge for North Texas. UNT has four wins with two games left, they get Southern Miss at home before finishing at UTEP. A bowl would be a gigantic accomplishment of Littrell in year one. All that is out in front of them with two games left.

North Texas welcomes USM next week.
