Baylor confirmed what everyone feared yesterday, that Seth Russell is out for the remainder of the season with a fractured ankle.
The injury occurred yesterday vs. Oklahoma. Russell had returned in 2016 after suffering a fractured neck vs. Iowa State in 2015. Russell was a bright spot both on and off the field for a Baylor program that desperately need one.
Baylor now turns to spring enrollee Zach Smith from Grandview. For the season Smith is 16 for 35 for 272 yard with 2 touchdowns. He's completed 45.7% of his passes. After Smith Baylor's roster reveals a RS Freshman Zack Bennema, he's completed his only pass attempt during his Baylor career, and Preston Heard a true freshman from Episcopal high school. Heard has gone 1 for 2 in 2016.
Then again Baylor could just go full wildcat like they did for the bowl game last season and turn Lynx Hawthorne and the Bears running backs lose. That worked out ok.
Godspeed to Seth Russell and best of luck in whatever you do.
