Your Wednesday Playcard...

Congrats Texas State, there are none more worser.

CBS sports named the 2016 Texas State Bobcats the worst team in college football. Texas State edged out Rutgers and Kansas for the distinction. The Bobcats finished at 2-10 this season, one of those wins was over a Southland Conference foe, the other over Ohio. The Ohio win became more inexplicable as the season went on. We may need to go back and rewatch the game to see if it did in fact actually happen or was some sort of scoring error.

Don't feel too bad Bobcats, SMU won the distinction back in 2014 and hey, they're 5-7 now.

Tom Herman is gettin' paid

The details of Tom Herman's Texas deal have leaked. Herman is set to make $5.2 million in year one and there is a $250,000 escalator over the life of the life of the contract bringing his compensation to $6.25 million by year five.

If Herman leaves during the life of the contract he'll owe UT $3 million per year remaining on his contract. If Texas were to get rid of Herman without cause, they'll owe him $5 million for each remaining year minus whatever Herman makes at a new gig.

We fully expect Herman to get an extension/raise the minute he wins more than five games, so all this could be tossed out soon.

Lincoln Riley "Killed It" in Houston Interview

According to Dennis Dodd, so let's all take a breath, Lincoln Riley was impressive in his interview at Houston. Sources say Riley "knocked it out of the park" and "they'd be surprised if they don't hire him." No confirmation yet as to whether the source was Riley's mom.

Riley's performance allegedly placed him ahead of captain personality Lane Kiffin. We'd rather the Cougars not hire Kiffin, he's had chances at to of the premier programs in country, Tennessee and USC. The former he left after one season to go to the latter. Then he was fired on the team bus at USC. Well, technically he was asked to get off the team bus before he was fired, but you get the idea.

The same article mentions that new Baylor coach Matt Rhule turned down the Oregon job in favor of the position in Waco. Interesting if true.
