North Texas Gets Bad Roster News

Seth Littrell is hanging out the help wanted sign far and wide to try and find bodies for his 2016 Mean Green squad. Those efforts took a hit as several players didn't make the roster for various reasons. William Johnson, Cody Hayes, and Bryce English were not listed on the Mean Green roster to start 2016.

Johnson and Hayes are the big losses, both were needed at positions that are light on bodies. Johnson, the third ranked JC linebacker out of Arizona Western and former Kansas State commit was counted on to step in at the ultra thin linebacker position. Johnson would have been an immediate upgrade.

Hayes, a JC lineman from Navarro, was also counted on to contribute to an offensive line that is woefully short on bodies. His loss means the paper thin group's margin for error is essentially gone.

English, another Kansas State transfer and former DeSoto star, came to Denton from Manhattan after redshirting in 2015. English applied for a waiver of the NCAA's requirement that he sit out a year after transfer. English moved closer to home to be with his ailing father. The good news for UNT is that English is in Denton and only has to sit out a year before his eligibility kicks in.
