SMU's Matt Davis is lost for the Season

SMU received some terrible news today when Chad Morris revealed that senior quarterback Matt Davis has an ACL injury that will keep him out the remainder of the season. Davis injured his knee against North Texas and was held out against Baylor.

Davis, a Klein Forest grad, was a highly regarded prospect who originally signed with Texas A&M. Once Manziel became...well Manziel, Davis transferred to Tyler JC where he saw some action but also missed time with injuries.

At SMU Davis has sixteen starts under his belt, including ten last season. An athletic dual threat quarterback, Davis has been a bigger threat with his legs than his arm, but he led SMU to some explosive results including a near upset at TCU last season.

SMU turns to RS Freshman Ben Hicks and Sophomore Darrel Colbert Jr. Hicks started at Baylor and was a three star recruit out of Waco Midway. Colbert was a productive player at Houston Lamar. He's undersized but perhaps more of a runner than Hicks.
