The Inaugural Roundup Power Rankings

We waited until the first week of the season to make vast, overreaching, biased predictions and generalizations.

1. Houston

Biggest win in program history on a national stage at NRG stadium, yep to be the man you've got to beat the man. They beat the man.

2. Texas

Texas jumped from unranked to 11th in the AP poll. Gnashing of teeth ensued. We don't care. We didn't rank anyone till now which means we're basing this on Texas' one victory this season. #samplesize

3. TCU

This is controversial, the Frogs were taken into the fourth quarter by South Dakota State. Whatever, we believe in you Gary Patterson.

4. Texas A&M

Is anyone happy with Noel Mazzone addition to A&M offense. The offense looks a lot like the Spavital Show 2.0. Big win against a UCLA team at home in the heat.

5. Baylor

The Baylor destruction tour continues this time the an epic Southland victory against Northwestern State. A win over a directional Louisiana school, we can't give out a clean score for that.

6. Texas Tech

Speaking of Southland beat downs, coach Kliff administered one. Tech defense allowed a grand total of seven points. That hasn't happened in ever.

The Miners won the shovel and spittoon in one night! Plus Aaron Jones looked like he's back. For real.

8. SMU

Nice win in Denton. We're going to copy that phrase and use it often this year.

A 13 point win over Alabama State. Not exactly dominant but a win is a win is a win. Also the new Come and Take It sign was epic.

10. Texas State

Texas State beat a 21 point favorite not the road and Tyler Jones re-wrote the Bobcat record book.

11. Rice

Oh dear. Western Kentucky's quarterback made a Heisman video from the Thursday night highlights. Better days to come.

12. North Texas

A non blowout loss to SMU is better than we expected, but still a loss. Technically.
