Every once in a while, somebody gets it right. Even the shoe companies. Under Armour is batting in the .200s with their throwbacks. The shoe company of Steph Curry seems to go to great lengths to destroy the Maryland football program, and Steph's shoes hit one out of the park with Texas Tech's 1974 throwbacks.
Here's the original. Fair warning, you're about to fall in love.
Look at that helmet. Just look at the helmet. Clean, crisp, showcasing Tech's school colors, they are the RED Raiders after all and that helmet stripe. Here's another one, contain yourself.
Wow. The world is a better place with these uniforms in it.
Don't get us started on the pant stripe; it's fantastic.
So here's what Under Armour did, hint, they got it exactly right.
Stop it right there Tech; you've got your look. That's the best Tech has looked since, well, 1974. That red just pops, and the Double T logo is so amazingly simple it all just works.
I don't even mind the red socks, but if Tech went to white socks and black shoes, that pairing would set it off. But it's still damned perfect. If you look close, you can see the star on the front of the helmet, that sort of detail sets this kit apart.
What's scary is that if you went straight white roadie uniform, you'd have the best looking uniform in the Big 12 and one of the best in the country. Something like this:
Let's start a petition to get these on the Red Raiders full time. Well done Under Armour, you didn't screw this one up. Now about Maryland...
