The man who brought an indoor facility to Houston and a couple of critical hires, including Major Applewhite, is leaving for Arkansas. Hunter Yurachek started at the University of Houston back in 2014 and was instrumental in shaping the Cougars into a model FBS program, one that's on the cusp of the P5.
Yurachek hires Applewhite after Texas poached Tom Herman last December. Also, he's overseen almost $250 million in facilities overhauls including a renovated basketball arena, the brand spanking new indoor practice facility, and the Guy V. Lewis Development Center. Before Houston, Yurachek ran the athletic department at Coastal Carolina.
His first job at Arkansas is to make the most important hire in the athletic department, the head football coach, and do it all in just a couple weeks. No pressure. We'll see where Houston turns for its next AD; hopefully, someone to continue the upward trajectory of the school.
