Rice's skill position took another hit today with receiver Temi Alaka announcing via twitter that he is leaving the program. Alaka, a senior from Cy Falls, finished fourth on the team in receptions with 28 in 2016. He was one of the Owl's most athletic players, with good size at 6'2 205.
The Owls must now replace three of their top four receivers from 2016 including Alaka, the very productive Zach Wright, and tight end Conner Cella. Alaka gave the Owls a deep threat, averaging over 16 yards a catch, best on the team in 2016. Alaka led Rice with 458 yards last season.
Alaka is set to graduate in May, making him eligible to play next season at his next stop.
