In perhaps the most non-suprising result in 2017 Rice had the highest the NCAA APR Score for the Texas FBS schools. APR stands for Academic Progress Rate and measures academic progress and how universities move their athletes along the road to graduation. Poor APR scores can result in significant NCAA penalties, including scholarship reductions and postseason penalties.

For trivia sake the highest average APR comes from gymnastics athletes who average 990 for men's gymnastics and 994 for women's gymnastics. So gymnasts are smart.
