Houston was busy on Tuesday as the Cougars have added four transfers from Power 5 programs including three who are eligible in 2017. Ellis Jefferson highlights the haul. Jefferson, an Arizona State transfer originally from Denton Guyer, is a big target at 6-4, 200 pounds. Jefferson had 25 catches over his Sun Devil Career.
Deon Mix comes over as well from Auburn where he provided backup on the interior of the Tigers' offensive line. Mix was a highly regarded high school prospect out of Mississippi who had offers from Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. Mix was an Army All-American in high school and one of the top five recruits in Mississippi his senior year.
Reggie Chevis announced his transfer a couple months ago. He comes to Houston from Texas A&M and will add depth to the inside of the defensive line. Chevis was a highly regarded out of Sharpstown, recruited by LSU and OU among others.
Jefferson, Mix and Chevis will be eligible in 2017.
Houston also added Miami defensive lineman Courtel Jenkins. Jenkins will have one year of eligibility left after he sits out 2017. A New Jersey native, Jenkins played for current Houston defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio for the Canes. Jenkins played on the interior of the defensive line at the U. He's a big unit at 6-2, 320 pounds.
