Texas State Puts Together a Big Recruiting Weekend

Texas State entered last week with zero commitments, sitting at the bottom of the Sun Belt standings. After a busy weekend Everett Withers and crew have 10, 2018 recruits and sit on top of 24/7's Sun Belt recruiting rankings.

There's quality with the quantity. Five of the Bobcats commits are three stars. Last year the 'Cats signed seven three stars total.

This group is line heavy with four commits helping up front. Size is also a factor with four of the five linemen standing 6-5. As Texas State transitioned to the FBS, size has always been a concern. Even now, the offensive line on campus is undersized. Withers has sought to change that in his recruiting efforts.

Even outside linebacker Jake Lynch is 6-5. These athletes have the size and frames to build on.

They have the pedigrees as well. Tackle Kylar Cooks comes from small school power Liberty-Eylau which is fast becoming a Texas State pipeline. Corner Taj Bickham and safety C.J. Johnson are from mega 6-A power Allen. Austin Deason comes from Houston area stalwart Pearland. Jalen Momerelle is from next door powerhouse Manvel.

As we must always say, because it's true and also monotonous, these verbal commitments are non-binding. High school kids can and will change their mind based on criteria that we find pointless. You've been warned.
