North Texas linebacker Zack Bishop announced via twitter that he was giving up football due to a back injury. Bishop had offseason surgery and as a result his doctor recommended he give up football in light of future current and future health concerns.
Bishop, a junior transfer from Oklahoma Baptist, sat out 2016 due to transfer rules. This spring he played well enough to move into a backup role at WILL linebacker. Bishop registered nine tackles in the Mean Green spring game back in April. Bishop played high school football at 6A power Allen.
Best of luck to Zack in the next chapter of his life.
