TCU Defensive Lineman Tipa Galea'i Transfers to Utah State

Euless Trinity Trojan and TCU Horned Frog Tipa Galea'i announced he was leaving Fort Worth and heading up to Logan, Utah as he transfers to Utah State. The rising Junior will sit out 2017 per NCAA transfer rules and have two years remaining, staring in 2018. Galea’i is the younger brother of former USU long snapper Salanoa Galea’i.

As a sophomore for the Horned Frogs, Galea’i recorded 24 tackles, including 5.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks, in 10 games. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder also forced a fumble and recovered two more. Galea'i also had a strip sack against Georgia in the Liberty Bowl. He was fifth on the Frogs in tackles for loss in 2016.

Galea'i continues a longstanding tradition of very good players out of Trinity. He was recruited by several Power 5's including Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas Tech.

Best of luck to Tipa and the Aggies.
