Matt Rhule cut the drama out on Tuesday and named his quarterback starter for the Liberty game, Arizona transfer Anu Solomon. Solomon won the quarterback competition with Zach Smith and Charlie Brewer. In his press conference Rhule noted that each of the quarterbacks brought something different, Solomon is the better runner, Smith has the biggest arm, and Brewer is a playmaker.
While at Arizona, Solomon suffered from concussion related symptoms that cut into his career. He led the Wildcats to a PAC 12 title game as a redshirt freshman. He played his prep ball at powerhouse Bishop Gorman.
In other news, Rhule confirmed that All-Big 12 defensive end K.J. Smith moved inside to tackle this season to take advantage of his athleticism and disruption.
