Jimbo Fisher's first A&M staff is coming together with the announcement that Mike Elko will come to College Station from his current post as defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. Elko is widely respected in the coaching community for his scheme knowledge and his recruiting prowess. The Aggies made a run at LSU's Dave Aranda, but Aranda signed an extension and for a healthy raise from the Tigers.
Elko upgraded the Notre Dame defense in his lone season on staff, as the Irish increased their turnover and sack totals and improved their record from 4-8 to 10-3.
The Aggies also added Dameyune Craig and Jay Graham to the offensive staff. Craig will coach receivers while Graham will lead running backs. Craig, a former Auburn quarterback, coached with Fisher at Florida State and LSU and also coached at Auburn under Gus Malzahn. Graham coached running backs for Fisher at Florida State.
Former Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster will coach tight ends. Brewster coached with Fisher at FSU, and most consider him to be a top-shelf recruiter.
Fisher will keep current line coach Jim Turner from the previous A&M staff.
