As if a 1-6 start wasn’t bad enough, now off the field troubles are striking in San Marcos. Everett Withers announced that he’s dismissing T.J. Bedford and Kishawn Kelley from the squad. Withers cited multiple violations of University rules as the reason for their dismissals.
After the announcement, allegations came to light that San Marcos authorities arrested Bedford for sexual assault in August of last year (2017) stemming from an on-campus incident. Authorities declined to bring charges on Bedford and Bedford denied the allegation to Austin American Statesman Reporter Keff Ciardello.
Bedford’s dismissal from the squad is not apparently linked to that event.
Bedford finished his Texas State career with eight catches in five games. The Covington, Louisiana native redshirted in 2017.
Kelley, recruited as a quarterback out of Corsicana, moved to defensive back in San Marcos but the redshirt freshman didn’t see the field.
