Everett Withers added two coaches to his staff with the addition of Kyle Hoke and Zack Lucas. Hoke will coach the secondary and Lucas is the new Director of Football Operations. Hoke comes to Texas State from John Carroll University where he coordinated the defense in 2016 and 2017. John Carroll is a division three program in Ohio.
Before his stint at John Carroll Hoke served as GA at South Carolina working primarily with linebackers. Before to South Carolina, he served as a defensive quality control staffer at West Point. Hoke started his coaching career at Western Michigan as a GA on the defensive staff. Kyle Hoke is the son of longtime FBS coordinator John Hoke and coached with his old man at South Carolina.
Lucas worked as an equipment manager at Texas State the past three seasons. He elevates to Director of Football Operations duties of which, according to the job description on zip recruiter, including preparing and managing financial aspects of the football program, serving as the main liaison with the department of athletics external operations, internal operations, NCAA compliance and business offices; monitoring academic progress of football student-athletes, assisting in the development and implementation of public relations, marketing and fundraising initiatives for the program and the athletic department. So basically everything off the field except laying out tackling dummies.
