Mike Bloomgren continues to make solid hires to his staff, dipping into the high school ranks for the first time by bringing on Drew Svoboda from Klein Collins. Svoboda will coach running backs at Rice, after leading Collins for ten years.
Klein Collins was 93-24 with five district titles and 2016's state semifinal appearance in Svoboda's ten years at the program. Svoboda is the president of the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association, so he's respected among his peers. He should give Rice and Bloomgren inroads into the vast network of Houston area coaches and prospects. Tomball native went to SFA for his undergrad, and he's spent his entire career coaching in and around the North Houston area at Collins, Oak Ridge, and Caney Creek.
