In a surprising development, Chron.com is reporting that Duke Catalon is leaving the Houston football program for personal reasons. Catalon led Houston in rushing the past two seasons, averaging 4.28 yards a carry in 2017.
Catalon, who played at Aldine Ike, originally signed with Texas in 2014 where he redshirted before transferring back home to Houston. He sat out 2015 due to transfer rules. The continued development of Mulbah Car and Colorado transfer Patrick Carr is critical to Houston's rushing attack in 2018.
The Cougars are transitioning to Kendal Briles run heavy, RPO based offense in 2018. Briles' offenses have been incredibly efficient rushing the ball at both Baylor and last season at Florida Atlantic.
The Roundup wishes Catalon the best in whatever personal issues have caused this move.
