Another kick in the pills for Texas State as defensive end Jordan Mittie announced his intent to transfer to Kansas State. Mittie graduates in May, so he'll be eligible immediately for the Wildcats. Mittie swung from defensive tackle to end, he also added 35 pounds of weight last offseason and became the Bobcat's most consistent defensive lineman.
Mittie accounted for 52 stops last season, including 5.5 tackles for loss with three sacks. In 2016 he made 31 stops with two sacks among seven tackles for loss. Mittie's dad is the head women's basketball coach at Kansas State.
Mittie's absence means that players like Dean Taylor, Grant Lanza, and converted offensive lineman Jaquel Pierce will play a more significant role. The transfer also implies freshman like Nico Ezidore, JaCourtney Calvin, Dotson Schaefer, and Jake Lynch might be pressed into duty.
