After a year's hiatus at Mississippi State, Brett Elliott is returning to Texas State as quarterback coach. Elliott didn't follow Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen to Florida and found an opening at Texas State after Parker Fleming left for Ohio State.
Elliott coached with Everett Withers at James Madison, as offensive coordinator, and did the same in his only season at Texas State. Before that, he coached with Mullen and the Bulldogs as a grad assistant and played quarterback for Mullen and Urban Meyer at Utah before finishing his playing career at Linfield College.
Elliott's replacement at Utah was future Number 1 overall pick, Alex Smith. Elliott played arena football for several seasons before going into coaching.
