UTEP Announces Sun Bowl Renovations

Big happenings are occurring in El Paso this weekend, the spring game happened last night, but before the festivities, Jim Senter announced a modernization plan for the 55-year-old Sun Bowl. The plan calls for premium seating, a press box renovation, widening concourses, adding elevators, and a terrace area.

The project will cost between $10 and $15 million and should be completed by the 2019 opener, with some parts of the project finished by the 2018 opener. It's the first major renovation to the Sun Bowl since 1982's capacity expansion. The University is partnering with GECU, the largest financial institution in El Paso.

GECU will receive naming rights for the new terrace seating area, just below the press box on the west side of the stadium.

UTEP opens the 2018 season against Northern Arizona.
