SMU offensive lineman Matthew Huhn announced via Twitter that he is retiring from football due to a medical issue. According to Huhn, he suffered the injury this spring, and it affects his daily life.
A three-star prospect from San Antonio Jay, Huhn redshirted in 2017. A high school receiver when his career at Jay began, coaches convinced Huhn that his best option was the offensive line. The 6-7 skinny framed skill player developed into a 295-pound tackle. Several Ivy league schools recruited Huhn, who finished in the top five percent of his high school class, but he settled on SMU and coach Chad Morris.
Best of luck to Huhn and his academic pursuits.
