An offseason of tragedy continued on Sunday as Houston Baptist football player Garrett Dolan's body was discovered at a Houston apartment complex.
Dolan came to HBU from Barbers Hill to play for the fledgling Husky football program. He was part of the schools inaugural signing class, the "Original 13" as they've come to be known. Investigators believe Dolan fell from the roof of the complex and that alcohol may have played a role.
Dolan was a three-time captain and was the team's defensive player of the year each of the first four seasons. He was recently honored as the HBU Athletics Male Athlete of the Year for a two-straight years. He led the Southland Conference and ranked second in the nation for a second-straight season with 12.7 tackles per game. Dolan's 467 tackles ranks seventh all-time in the FCS.
Rice's Blain Padgett died in an off-campus apartment in March. The cause of death is still pending.
Houston Baptist University will hold a memorial service for DolanWednesday, on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Belin Chapel on campus.
Godspeed Garrett Dolan.
