Rice announced the addition of three players to its 2018 roster. Andrew Mike announced his move on Twitter a few weeks ago. Yesterday the Owls confirmed Mike and announced that UCLA fullback Giovanni Gentosi and linebacker Blaze Alldredge from Pierce College in Los Angeles. The migration to Texas from California continues.
Gentosi went to UCLA as a walk-on deep snapper/offensive lineman out of Corona Del Mar High School. Jim Mora eventually placed Gentosi on scholarship and moved him from tight end to fullback. The 6-2 255 pound grad transfer started six games last season for the Bruins. Here's a little film from last season.
Gentosi has soft hands and good feet. He's not a classic thumper, but more of a technician. He could shift back down to tight end or a hybrid H-Back.
Alldredge played high school ball in Florida before going cross country to join the squad at Pierce College in Los Angeles. Pierce is a community college located in Woodland Hills. He Alldredge played outside linebacker at Pierce; he'll have four years to play three at Rice.
Rice Opens 2018 against Prairie View on August 25th.
