Transfer season continues at a breakneck pace, but for Texas Tech the news isn't all bad. Running back Demarcus Felton and linebacker Brayden Stringer, both of whom indicated they would see a transfer, will remain with the team.
Felton saw his usage peak in 2016 with 64 carries for 354 yards. Last season after a number of backs emerged, Felton fell down the depth chart. He's a rising senior from Spring Dekaney. Stringer similarly played more snaps in 2016, but the arrival of Dakota Allen and the emergence of Jordyn Brooks relegated him to a special teams role. Stringer is a junior out of Cy Ranch.
Three-time starter Jaylon Lane is no longer on the Tech roster. The defensive back from Nacogdoches transferred in from Independence JC before the 2017 season. His departure is not a surprise as Kingsbury referred to his status as "in limbo" in early May. I guess we can take off limbo status.
In other news, Jordan Moore, a linebacker from Lafayette, Louisiana is no longer with the program. Recruited as a safety, he moved up to linebacker last season. Walk-on punter John De La Garza is also out after sliding down the depth chart.
Tech opens the 2018 season on September 1st in Houston vs. Ole Miss.
