Texas State (Finally) Releases Depth Chart Ahead of Rutgers

Everett Withers released his 2018 depth chart for the opener and it contains a few surprises as the Bobcats head to New Jersey.

  • Caleb Twyford is listed at backup running back behind Anthony D. Taylor. Twyford played receiver in 2017 and helps fill in for Anthony Smith who will miss 2018 with injury.
  • Redshirt Freshman Tate Heitmeier will start at left guard, next to Aaron Brewer at tackle. The former walk-on Heitmeier established himself in the spring and continues to put in strong performance.
  • At the other guard position Central Arkansas transfer David Tachie gets the nod. At 6-4,313 pounds, he looks like a mauler.
  • Heitmeier and Tachie are both north of 300 with Heitmeier checking in at 330. The rest of the starting line sits south of 300, with Brewer coming in at 270, center Reece Jordan at 275, and right tackle Jacob Rowland at 290.
  • Quarterbacks Jaylen Gipson and Tyler Vitt are listed as co-backups.
  • Oklahoma State transfer Keenan Brown is starting at tight end. Brown held offers from Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, LSU, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Michigan State, among others. coming out of Alief Taylor.
  • Jashon Waddy's move to safety is complete, the junior from Angleton will start at free safety on Saturday.

Texas State and Rutgers kick off at 11:00 Saturday morning on the Big Ten Network.
