Rice Unveils Plans for Indoor Bubble

You’ll soon be able to add Rice to the list of Texas schools with an indoor practice facility. The Rice Board of Trustees approved construction of an indoor bubble, ready for the fall.

The cost of the bubble is $3 million, and the plan is to construct the facility on the west side of Rice Stadium. The bubble, similar to the Texans practice bubble, will be 80,000 square feet and allow the Owls practice in spite of inclement weather.

Currently, Baylor, Houston, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, and Texas Tech have indoor practice areas. North Texas and SMU both have facilities under construction, while UTSA has a plan for an indoor space on the books.

Rice’s bubble is slated to open September 1st.
